Debra--The Breeder & the Artist
Hi,
My name is Debra
and this is my
favorite Dog,
Thika.  I named her
for a wonderful book
called "The Thorn
Trees of Thika"  by
Elsbeth Huxley
which I read when I
was a girl.  I saved
the name Thika for
just the right one.
(
We're wearing matching
sweaters.)
This is Pharlap.  She was my favorite
dog of all time.  She died at 15 years
of age, lying on the bed with me.  She
would not go until I told her it was ok.
When I die, I am going to be cremated
and buried with her!
This is Aubrey.  He is named for Captain
Jack Aubrey of Patrick O'Brien's
seafaring series of books.  I love the time
of sailing ships and wish I could have
lived during that time.  Aubrey is the
second love of my life.  He is all character,
full of himself!
This is Frankie and B.J. (females)  They are named for my very
best friends Frankie and B.J. of  Beijai's Chinese Cresteds and
Chinese Imperials.  Click on Frankie's picture to go to their site.
They have been wonderful friends and mentors to me and I owe
them so much.  I just wish half the country wasn't between us!
Here's our Hannah!  Look how
beautiful her front is, and she moves
like a dream. And sweet....she is just so
sweet you want to eat her.  Look for her
in the show ring when she gets a little
older.
Here are my recent
graduation photos.  I
graduated from Eastern
Kentucky University as an
Honors Scholar with a B.A.
in history.  Who says you
can't teach old dogs new
tricks? The top photo is of
me and my mom, Faye
Venable.  She is a pretty
cool lady.  The middle
photo is of me and my boss,
Dr. Bonnie J. Gray head of
the Honors Department at
E.K.U.  She has made our
Honors Program one of the
most prestigious in the
country and she is a
wonderful friend and a
great boss.  The bottom
photo is of me and my
daughter, Kenix.  She is
from Hong Kong and will
be entering pharmacy
school at the University of
Kentucky in the Fall of
2007.
This is the French author
Victor Hugo.  He has had a
profound effect upon my
life.  I would never have
understood injustice in the
way I do today without his
input.  You can learn more
about Hugo by clicking his
photo. I highly recommend
you read his novel Les
Miserables.
This is my Hugo.  I always
wanted a white
Bullie
named for Victor Hugo.  He
is a sweet heart.  Part of his
registered name is Ego
Hugo, which was Victor
Hugo's motto.
This is my favorite shot of my Fiona.
She is one of the Target Store puppies.
Here we are in a field of cotton in
Alabama.  I was so excited because I
had never seen cotton in the field
before.  Fi Fi and Aubrey were bred at
the Envision Registan kennels.  The
Flaughs and Griders are wonderful
people and have been a big help and
support to me.  They are very
trustworthy breeders and I highly
recommend them.  Visit their kennel
by clicking on the pic.
This, of course, is Meatloaf, my
favorite singer.  I have every one of
his albums.  I listen to him and drive
fast on curvy country roads. Don't
you think he has aged gracefully.  I
hope I have too. Click
on the younger pic to
reach his official web
site.
At 50 I have take up the motorcycle.  These are
the best years of my life.  Victor Hugo said, "Forty
is the old age of your youth and Fifty is the youth
of your old age."  Boy was he right.  Below is a
picture of my bike.
I took the driving class
at EKU.  Boy, was it
hard on this old body,
but by the end, you
either love it or give up.
(P.S.  The women scored higher
than the guys!)
I 'll be adding
more pages to
the Vanator
story later.  See
you then.!
